Harris Shutter Effect

Above is a piece by Bruce McAdam using the Harris Shutter Effect. This effect uses different primary colours to produce different coloured layers in separate time intervals. This effect is created by re-exposing the same frame through red, blue and green filters whilst keeping the camera steady. Any object that moves around the frame will produce a rainbow of colours around the object.

Pinhole Camera - Plan

What you need

  • Aluminium can (beer can)
  • Tin opener
  • A4 black card
  • Duct tape
  • Pin
  • Insulation tape
  • Light sensitive photographic paper (semi-matte)

Where can I leave my camera?

The map images I have added are just basic area maps for some locations. I will have my camera facing South to ensure that it captures the sun.

Time Lapse

These two plans are ideas I am planning on experimenting with for my final time lapse piece.

The first idea is based on a person taking one shirt off to reveal another shirt underneath and when that shirt is removed, another one is revealed under that. The idea is that this process continues on what will appear to be an endless cycle. I will aim to use different backgrounds also to show how the photos have been taken over time.

The second idea involves a person stood at the back of a dark room, lit with a single spotlight. As you get closer to the person, you begin to see further and further inside their mouth. When you get into their mouth and out of the other side (effectively) you begin to see another person in the same position and the process continues.

Introduction

The theme I have chosen for my work is Surrealism. Surrealism is creating unnatural or irrational juxtapositions and combinations of images. I will be trying out several different medias and effects on my work and looking at different artists for inspiration.
